The Cardinals will keep their leadership structure in place well into the next decade.
The Cardinals announced contract extensions for their president of baseball operations, general manager, and manager at Tuesday afternoon’s end-of-season press conference, signing John Mozeliak to a three-year extension that will keep him under contract through 2023, exercising Michael Girsch’s 2020 option and signing him to a two-year extension that will keep him under contract through 2022, and signing Mike Shildt to a new three-year deal that will keep him in St. Louis through 2022.
Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr announces contract extensions for baseball leadership:

Shildt was awarded a three-year contract (through the end of the 2020 season) when he took the Cardinals’ managerial job late in the 2018 campaign, so this new contract essentially serves as a two-year extension. Mozeliak also announced on Tuesday that Shildt’s entire coaching staff will return in 2020.
